Ákos Zarándy is an electrical engineer, Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Head of the Computer Optical Sensing and Processing Research Laboratory at the HUN-REN Institute for Computer Science and Control, HUN-REN SZTAKI. He is also a professor at the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics of Pázmány Péter Catholic University. His research areas include computer vision, as well as traditional and AI-based image processing, primarily in medical technology, biology and biotechnology applications. His current focus is the application of the Digital Holographic-Fluorescent Microscope developed by his research group in environmental protection, water industry and microalgae cultivation projects.
