Where Should We Cut? Surgical Intuition Meets AI-Guided AR Navigation

The surgical decision - where to place the incision - rested for decades on the surgeon's training, experience and spatial judgement. Augmented reality and image-guided navigation can now project information derived from imaging onto exactly where the surgeon is looking: the operating field. Drawing on the practice of robot-assisted thoracic surgery, the talk shows what this adds to the decision, where the system is more precise than the human, and where intuition remains indispensable.
